Pakistan started off well in the chase as opener Sharjeel Khan produced a brisk half century to keep his side in contention to win the game. Azhar Ali fell for a low score after making a comeback into the side. Sharjeel top scored for the side with 74 runs followed by 40s chipped in by Mohammad Hafeez and Shoaib Malik. Adam Zampa and Josh Hazlewood took three wickets apiece in the game as the visitors fell 86 runs short of the target.
Earlier in the game, Australia won the toss and decided to bat first on a typical SCG wicket ideally suited to batsmen. David Warner produced yet another scintillating century to see his side post up mammoth total like 353 runs from 50 overs. Pakistan produced credible effort in the chase but once again did not hold to key moments in the game.
