Morgan stars with the bat as Peshawar Zalmi defeat Karachi Kings
Bowlers initially setup the win for Peshawar in their second game against Karachi.
Peshawar Zalmi quickly recovered from their defeat in the first game to produce a comprehensive win over Karachi Kings in a third game of Pakistan Super League played at Dubai.
Eoin Morgan was man of the moment for the Zalmi as he scored unbeaten 80 runs off 57 balls to steer his side to win the game in the 18th over. The start to the chase was far from ideal as Mohammad Hafeez was gone for a duck while the side were precariously placed at 48 for 3 after 9 overs before Morgan played a splendid knock under pressure to see his cruise to a seven wicket win over Kings.
Earlier in the game, Darren Sammy won the toss for Zalmi and opted to bowl first. Karachi Kings were in all sorts of trouble at one stage with just 12 runs on the board for the loss of four wickets that included the likes of Sangakkara and Gayle. Shoaib Malik played well and added 59 runs with Ravi Bopara. Kieron Pollard came in late and played a brisk cameo of 27 runs to see the side post a below par score of 118 runs from 20 overs. Wahab Riaz and Mohammad Hafeez took two wickets apiece for the Peshawar Zalmi.
Karachi’s batting woes have continued this season as well as they will need to do better to remain a threat in the competition while Zalmi are back on track with a win in their second game of the league.
